Jeffery Parrish told his wife he didn't want to go back to jail. The fact that he pointed a gun at her while telling her this was the reason he is sitting in a Columbia County jail cell, according to a sheriff's report.
According to an incident report, the suspect's wife claims she returned home around 9:30 p.m. Sunday to her Martinez home and took a shower. When she was done and opened up the bathroom door, her husband was there.
According to the report, Mr. Parrish "pointed a pistol at her, put a loaded magazine in the pistol, pulled the slide of the pistol back charging the weapon and then pulled the hammer back on the pistol, all while pointing the pistol" at his wife. With just a few feet between her and the gun, Mr. Parrish allegedly told his wife that he "was not putting up with her s*** anymore and the cops will have to kill him before he goes back to jail," the report states.
Mr. Parrish apparently backed down. A report states he laid the bed. That's when the victim bolted from the house, drove to her parent's house and dialed 911.
According to the report, eight officers responded to the home and tried to talk with the suspect, but he was uncooperative and would not speak to deputies. A judge issued a warrant against Mr. Parrish for aggravated assault and officers arrested him at 3:45 a.m. Monday during a traffic stop.
Mr. Parrish, 51, was taken to Doctor's Hospital for a mentual evaluation. According to the sheriff's office website, he is currenly being held in the jail on charges of aggravated assault and battery. No bond has been issued.
