Truck Driver Charged with Credit Card Fraud

A former North Augusta truck driver has been moved to the Augusta jail to face charges that he used a gas card from his former employer for personal use.

Matthew Howell, 39, is facing five felony counts of credit card fraud.

Officials at the suspect's former employer, RBW Logistics in Augusta, told authorities that someone was using a Fuelman card and making unauthorized charges in both South Carolina and Georgia. An investigation revealed that Mr. Howell had taken someone else's card after he quit and using his old PIN number before it was cancelled, authorities said.

Mr. Howell was subsequently charged with several counts of credit card fraud in both states. He was sentenced to fines and restitution in South Carolina and was transferred Tuesday to Augusta to face the Georgia charges.
