Augusta Woman Goes Clubbing, Leaves 3 Kids Home Alone
An Augusta mother who left her three young children home alone to hang out at a local night club has been arrested, according to a sheriff's report.
Jennifer Racheal Thomas, 24, of East Boundary Street, was arrested Tuesday on three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Someone called the sheriff's office on Nov. 13 to check on the children, who included a 2-year-old girl, a 5-year-old boy and a 7-year-old boy. Deputy Walter Lamkin arrived at the suspect's East Augusta Commons apartment about 2 a.m. and could hear the children crying, but no one answered the door, a report states.
The deputy contacted a property manager, who let him into the apartment. He found the three children unattended and discovered the mother had gone clubbing, the report states.
The three children were turned over to their grandmother, and the deputy notified the Department of Family and Children Services.
