Kidnapping Arrest in Columbia County

Columbia County authorities have charged a man with kidnapping after an apparent domestic dispute over the weekend.

Russell Boyles, 22 (above), has been charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, hijacking of motor vehicle and a controlled substance felony.

On Sunday morning, authorities were called about a domestic dispute in Martinez in which Mr. Boyles had allegedly forced a 21-year-old woman into her own vehicle and told her to drive. Officers located the vehicle and made a traffic stop at Zaxby's near Park Lane, where they found the victim and Mr. Boyles. The officer took the suspect into custody at that time.

"Upon patting down the suspect for weapons, reporting officer found the listed firearm in the suspect's waistband, along with a handcuff key, a small pocketknife, several small white pills in a partially open cigarette box, and several other miscellaneous items (gun, magazine and bullets)," a report states.
