UPDATED: 2 Suspects Arrested in Teen's Death

UPDATED WITH NEW MUGSHOTS.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two people in connection with the overnight shooting death of 16 year old Brandon Desean Taylor at his home, 3411 Monte Carlo Drive.

Darian Deandre Postell, 19, of Thames Place in Hephzibah (top photo), and Brandon Ira Le’Keith Helm, 18, of Warwick Place in Hephzibah, (bottom photo) have been charged with one count each of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Both men are currently being held at the Richmond County Jail without bond.

Sheriff's Lt. Scott Peebles released this statement:

"The incident is believed to have been sparked from an altercation on Monday evening, in which, Helm and another man were shot at while walking through Pepperidge Subdivision. No one was hit, but it is believed that Helm, also identified as the shooter, was retaliating against Taylor, who he believed was one of several individuals responsible for that incident. Postell is believed to have accompanied Helm to the incident location and then disposed of the weapon afterward.
It is believed that the murder weapon has been recovered. The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible. The Richmond County Board of Education Police assisted in this case, and were instrumental in its resolution."

  4. I dont think anyone should be smiling on ANY mugshot. There is no honor in going to jail for any crime. This is everyone in Augusta's problem, worrying about criminal and no gooders reputation AFTER the fact. You should have been worried about his reputation and how people look at them before they do the crime and quit they aint what they really are. UNraised spoiled brats living in Cambridge Subdivision with parents that are too sorry to raise their kids! If you want to live in a good neighborhood with hard working folks teach your kids how to be upstanding citizens and stop buying them everything they need and stripping them of the real responsibility of being a good person with morals. I need for real parents to stand up!

  5. I agree smiling on any mug shot just shows you were headed right where he is now. A criminal with no respect for others lives. We really need to raise our kids and stop thinking they don't need any responsibility in life. Thames Place is in a nice subdivision. I hate to believe that someone who can afford a $200K home can't spend a little time raising thier children. What a shame.

  6. Every time something bad happens... its wheres the parents? always the parents fault for not spending enough time with them or not being around them during a accident...i read on another site the kid that got shot, "where are the parents" "what was he doing up at 2am"...the parents was sleeping, i mean come on everyone plays the blame game...i dont care if your parents are around you 24/7 if you get caught up in the glamor of fast lifestyle, then nothing is going to stop you from living how you want... i just simply said his picture was not current with the crime at hand, and all you folks just form an opinion on me, him, his family and whos to say this mugshot wasnt from something very petty, and the police always say things to make you laugh to make you as if you have no remorse for your actions, they think they slick but thats what they do...i mean really i see a evans girl for shoplifting smiling away but do you leave a comment saying she is heading down a road of disaster...no! you dont...it seems everyone has an opinion on how things need to be, but none stand up to make a change in the communities...i mean none of you know the real story detail for detail, and who the actual "trigger man" is. Just like the boy that got killed at McDonalds, "why was he at mcdonalds at 2am?" McDonalds stays open 24 hours aday shouldnt matter what time you want to eat, shouldnt lose your life in the process...

  10. well it has been stated...Peebles said the incident is believed to have resulted from an altercation Monday evening in which Helm and another man were shot at while walking through the subdivision, Peebles said. No one was hit, but investigators believe that Helm, who has been identified as the shooter, retaliated against Brandon Desean Taylor, Peebles said.

Investigators believe that Postell accompanied Helm to Taylor's home in the 3400 block of Monte Carlo Drive and disposed of the weapon afterward.

  12. I am testifying that if you RAISE your kids. there will be no picture of they sorry selves in the jail report. It is called rearing your child to do the RIGHT thing. But for anyone who commented on blaming the parents. You must not be raising yours. I bet anyone that if you start holding the parents responsible for not teaching your child right from wrong, there would be a lot less crime committed by juveniles. They learn that behavior from someone. If you raise your kids right these things will not happen. And I dont want to herae anything about what they watch on tv. TV does not raise your kids. YOU are supposed to raise your kids. Like I said sorry parents and young and dumb parents lead to young, dumb and sorry children. And the cycle continues. I need for someone to explain to me why these kids are so defiant if they are being raised by God fearing, disiplinarians that take no mess. OF COURSE your are going to blame the little deinquents cause they committed the crime. Ain't no way my mama will allow me to live in her home with no job or education and bring drama in her house. Now ya'll mad cause your family name is out there looking bad. You pay the cost for not doing your job which is being a PARENT!!!!

Cause he just a tender roni.

  14. Parents can raise and shelter their kids as much as they want. hell i know plenty of preachers children that are the worst when it comes to drugs and sex...i dont think you really know what you are talking about...Raising your kids is one thing, but when a kid reaches the age 18 which is an "adult" legally, he is going to do what he/she wants...and by saying your mother wouldnt put up with that in her home...ok i know plenty white and black parents that doesnt tolerate it either, and always kicks the teen out, but you know what that does, pushs a kid into a world with nothing, shelter, food, cloths...so then they turn to robbing and stealing...because he has no where to live, no way to provide for himself or eat, and im not defending anyone, im telling true stories...i know plenty that are living everyday like that...its easy to speak about good things and how you was raised, because thats how your family was, doesnt mean ours are... i know plenty from broken homes that are doing 10-15 years in prison and plenty that are in college...same for families with both parents...i mean raising will definitely mold a child, but when he or she is old enough to feel to do what they want, then theirs only so much you can "legally do." So stop blaming the parents...i mean really you dont walk in these peoples shoes...

  17. OMG ppl is so outrageous now days! Why should ppl blame da parents? Every child is not perfect! Kids dont listen to their parents all da time! Raising da child is one thing, but does da child mind their parents is da question! You can fix a dog a bowl of food but u cant make him eat it! Im ust saying you can raise your child da way you want them to end up but once they get old enough to know rite from wrong you cant make them listen to you! Its just sad cuz dat boy was inside his house! yes it was 2 am but as long as he was inside da house it strate but why was they walking da streets at 2 am? But I just hope ppl realize dat life is just too short! Brandon had just turned 16! He wasnt even 16 for a month! Them grown men killed a little baby! Im not saying Brandon was innocent cause yes he did wrong too but they didnt have to do him like that!!
