A Salley man seems to be in a better mood than his last arrest.
Thomas Chaples, 20, was busted last night for grand larceny and shoplifting. He smiled big for the camera when it was time for his mugshot at the Aiken County Detention Center (top photo).
His smile wasn't so bright the last time Salley police put him in handcuffs. In March 2008, he was arrested for discharging a firearm into a dwelling and malicious injury to personal property. In that mugshot (bottom photo), he almost looks mad.
Maybe after his first arrest, he realized the justice system doesn't punish criminals very harshly. So he's smiling this time knowing he won't have to serve much time. Just a thought.
