Who Knew It Was a Crime?

Check your wallet or purse! If you have more than one driver's license in there, better surrender one of them. Apparently, it's against the law to have two.

Last night, the Aiken Department of Public Safety hauled 24-year-old Marcus Bass of Warrenville (above) into jail for having more than one driver's license and driving with an open container. We understand the law about open containers, but we honestly didn't know you could get handcuffed and jailed over the possession of two licenses.

But according to our Internet research, the federal Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1986 made it illegal to have more than one driver's license. You can hold a regular or commercial driver's license, but not both. You can have one license from the state you reside in, but not from any other states.

In the past, bad drivers could more easily hide their driving histories by getting several licenses. Today, all the states are connected to a national database to check driver histories.

  4. Hello, open container! Yea, we are just all about keeping that black man down. So stupid to call the race card, let him take responsibility for his crime. He wouldn't be in jail if it had just been the license.
